Wins - and some near misses

Sorry for the late report, I was a bit distracted last night. On Saturday we had some wins – but also our share of near misses, like England.

The 1s beat Alexandra Park comfortably. Our innings of 191 was built around a big 3rd wicket stand between Jamie Price (72) and Seb Eyre (80). We then saw them off for 123, David Boothroyd taking 4-21. The 2s thrashed a very weak MTSSC. We bowled them out for just 27 – Leith Cowie 7-12 – and knocked them off in 4 overs. The 1s are 2nd and the 2s 4th in their divisions.

The 3s had a winning draw – but so close to a brilliant win. Wycombe House made 205 and we finished on 200, agonisingly close. The 3s slip to 3rd. The 4s lost, also in an absolute nailbiter. We made a decent 197, Chris Morris making 42 and Sushant Achawal (42) and Will Baylis-Allen adding 89 for the 8th wicket. In Brentham’s innings Will took 5-67 but they squeezed home with their 10 and 11 at the crease. The 4s slip to 4th place.

The 5s v 6s saw the 6s hold on for a draw. The 5s posted 190-8 and the 6s made 130-6, Gaurav Jayan taking 5-41. The 5s slip to second – but have a top-of-the-table clash with Wycombe House 4s next week that is a big game in the title race.

On Sunday the women had a great win against Shepherds Bush. We made 147, Issy Millar thrashing 67 and we kept them to 128, with a strong finish from the bowlers. The win means we overtake Shepherds Bush and go into 3rd place in the table. Well played everyone!

On Thursday we lost in the T20 league to Indian Gymkhana, and the U10s and U11s both lost.

Finally, it was great to see club legend Norman Dugdale at HQ on Saturday: see his post-game interview here: https://www.facebook.com/robta76/videos/389720390789152?idorvanity=105373449533310

Thanks to everyone who played this week.
