The last game is rained off - but the end of season awards night is just round the corner

So the senior season ended with a damp whimper today, as the traditional season ender at Jordans Taverners was rained off in the morning.

The junior season ended in much more spectacular style in the sunshine at HQ on Saturday as we hosted our first junior awards day. We had a couple of hours of games – including bowling speed with the speed-gun, and a 6-hitting competition – followed by awards and pizzas in the clubhouse. Thanks to everyone who helped with the day – Jim Yorath and Karl Sylvester for running activities, Leonora Yorath for overseeing the awards and speeches, and to Helen Gilmour for being a welcomer. Thanks also to those who helped support in any other way.

Awards were given out to all age groups, with batting, bowling and overall player of the year, plus coaches’ awards. We had a terrific turnout and it was a fantastic way to round off the season: thanks to all the juniors who have represented the club this year, and to the parents and carers who have supported them and us.

Now it’s over to the senior awards, this coming Friday 27 September at the club. Tickets are now available at the Pitchero shop https://www.chiswickcricketclubdragons.com/payments/senior-awards-night-2024-121160.html – and we really need people to sign up in advance so we have some kind of idea of numbers for catering, although tickets will also be available on the night. We will gather from 7pm, with speeches and awards (for all the sides within the club) culminating in our usual club-wide awards, including Club Person of the Year.

Your £20 ticket includes a pizza, and the bar will of course be open all night. There are junior tickets at £10 – those juniors who played senior cricket this year are very much invited to attend to celebrate as part of the senior club.

There is also an option to make a donation towards our club fundraising, which is currently aimed towards our new electric roller and the exciting developments at Chiswick House.

We will also of course have our usual raffle and auction on the night – please bring along any contributions of prizes on the night.

Thanks and hope to see you on Friday
Bernard
