A wet weekend - but wins in all the games that did happen

It’s been a pretty rainy week, which caused cancellation of the Under 15s on Thursday, the 3s on Saturday and the Sunday game at Chiswick House – but in the three games that went ahead on Saturday we recorded another clean sweep.

The 1s and 2s both beat disappointingly weak Kew teams and were done before the rain hit. The 1s hit 174-7 – Alex Kirkpatrick top-scoring with 45 – and bowled them out for 81. In the 2s game Kew batted first and posted only 92, Leith Cowie taking an impressive 5-3, and we chased for 2 wickets. The 4s beat Cookham Dean, restricting them to 115 (Charlie Harris 4 wickets) and overcame a wobbly start to chase down for 7, skipper Dan Hayward top-scoring.

Next week we have a quadruple header against Actonians – and with several regular players missing we need everyone possible to make themselves available. This is the last Saturday of warm-up games before the league season starts.

Thanks to those who have already paid annual subs. If you haven’t yet please go to the Pitchero Shop to pay as soon as possible: https://www.chiswickcricketclubdragons.com/payments/senior-membership-2024-earlybird-before-may-31-110619.html.

You also have until the start of the league season to get your Fantasy Team selected: https://chiswick.fantasyclubcricket.co.uk/ (and pay at the Pitchero site). Always a hotly contested competition – but you’ve got to be in it to win it.

Looking forward to better weather – and more cricket in the coming week.
